Wendy Borof

How did you get to Telluride? I drove to Telluride the summer before my senior year of college at UC Santa Cruz. One of my best friends from high school was living up on a Mesa outside of town (in a Tipi) so the living expenses were cheap and I was looking forward to a change of scenery.

What’s your astrological sign? Aquarius baby!

What brings you the most joy? I find joy everyday living in these mountains; hiking, biking, running, skiing, sitting, being. The joy I feel for my family is a long list that I cannot label. And I love and feel so grateful for the connections I make with my clients and for the opportunity to teach them to move their bodies in a way that brings freedom, strength, ease and agility.

Who or what influences your teaching style? There are so many creative and exceptional pilates instructors. I would say Cara Reeser has been my huge inspiration. She passes on the lineage of Kathy Grant who was a very intuitive instructor who learned directly from Joseph Pilates and went on to teach and support others with her ever-evolving knowledge. I have gained a deeper understanding of how the body moves and ways to support all bodies and adapt and change programs to fit their needs. Every time I take a course from Cara Reeser it's like getting a better eyeglass prescription, the clarity I feel is super motivating!

How do you apply practice to your life? Pilates is about integrating mind, body and spirit to live a healthier fuller life. When I am teaching an exercise that I or my client finds challenging; the challenge could be mental or physical, I tell myself or them to find the ease and flow within the work. Not everything has to feel hard- sometimes we need to let go and trust our body, our being- in that moment of trust the possibilities are endless.

About Wendy: I love to share my enthusiasm for pilates with others. As a teacher, I balance the knowledge with the exercises, the precision with flow in hopes of giving everyone a strong foundation to take with them in all aspects of their life so they feel strong and healthy.

What to expect from practice with Wendy: This Pilates mat class is designed to be challenging and energizing for all participants. A full body workout that will focus on core strength and muscle flexibility, you will learn how breath can become your super power when exercises feel difficult.
