<image:caption>How did you get to Telluride? I came in 1998. I was on the road with my dog Lulu. We needed dog food and went to the Telluride Pet Supply, which was located next to the original Honga’s. I noticed a small for sale sign, within 24 hours I was buying a business and moving to Telluride. What’s your astrological sign? Gemini sun = playful. Sag moon = gypsy heart. Virgo rising = I like order to things. What brings you the most joy? A yoga class that brings me to the edge and back. Who or what influences your teaching style? I'm very much influenced by nature and the students that come to class. How do you apply practice to your life? For me it’s all practice. Literally. From raising kids, to my sobriety, to making sure my animals have fresh clean water every day. To the work I do on my mat. Practice takes me off the hook that it has to be perfect. Every day I start over and do it again. About Jess: My roots are with the Jivamukti Yoga school. I’m honored to be part of their lineage. More recently I have been very much inspired by the theory of Katonah yoga. The teachings of yoga have been passed down to me in a very clear and pragmatic way. I’m always excited to share what I know. I’m a student first. I teach a class I would want to take. I try my best not to take any of it too seriously while not diluting the special magic of these ancient teachings. I feel deeply we need to have fun and it needs to feel good. What to expect from a practice with Jess: Jess’s classes will change depending on the day of the week, the time of day, the season and the students who come. There is not one recipe she follows. She teaches a healthy mix of this and that. But what you will always have is clear instruction, movement guided by breath, specific alignment cues, good music and a few bad jokes.</image:caption>

<image:caption>How did you get to Telluride? My wife Jessica brought me here. I didn’t really get it at first and then on the third or fourth visit it dawned on me that you could really live here — and I’ve wanted to ever since. What’s your astrological sign? Aquarius. What brings you the most joy? The one who brings me only joy is my cat. The most joy is harder to say. I’m satisfied all the way around. Who or what influences your teaching style? My lifelong path as an athlete has been the greatest teacher. How do you apply practice to your life? I’ve always been a seasonal athlete. Shifting and adjusting, putting one thing down and picking something else up. Staying ready to play is my practice. About Grayson: I’ve grown up with training, teaching and coaching from a young age, it’s just what I’ve always been into. I first got interested in it as a kid because I saw it as a way to coach myself. Seeing myself objectively led to being able to see others in the same way. Solving the riddle of “how:” for me and for others became a profession 20+ years ago. Now in my 40s, I have some perspective to go along with my skills, knowledge and insights. Here I am ready to go at Practice. What to expect from practice with Grayson: Strength + Stretch is about neuromuscular re-education. We’re trying to always lead our bodies into improvement through the challenges and sequences of the sessions. Specifically, we're improving our ready state. Locking in our gains as skills and bio-motor patterns that can be practiced over and over again. Yes show up, yes get stronger, yes get a stretch, yes feel better when you leave.</image:caption>

<image:caption>How did you get to Telluride? I was born in Chicago and have lived overseas and in New York. I have been coming to Colorado since 1980, and my mom had a home in Snowmass from 1994 to 2014. I AM A MOUNTAIN GIRL at heart. When looking for a new mountain base, my family and I visited many towns but the first time we came to Telluride in the summer of 2016 to visit friends, we knew this was our special place. We now split our time between our home here in Town, NYC and a farm in NW Connecticut. What’s your astrological sign: I am a Sagittarius but will admit to never having studied this subject. I relate to some of the traits: blunt, generous, honest, liking outdoors and colors. And don’t fit with other descriptions: Extrovert, always optimistic….. What brings you the most joy: Spending time with my 3 grown kids and 2 active dogs, being in nature, experiencing live music and my yoga practice. And getting a full night’s sleep! Who or what influences your practice style: I have done over 500 hours of teacher training with many teachers across the country and have absorbed different styles. Over the years my life and my body have gone through many changes as has my personal yoga practice. What influences my practice is being open to change, choosing to learn from teachers who I respect, listening to my body and adjusting EVERY TIME I COME TO THE MAT, avoiding comparing my practice with anyone else’s, and continuing to be a student even when I am teaching. I am particularly interested in keeping our bodies strong and supple as we age, and helping each student find their balance between pushing their boundary and easing off to remain healthy. How do you apply Practice to your life: Just like yoga, LIFE is a practice. Every morning you have a brand, new opportunity to work on self-improvement, on and off the mat. Yoga has taught me to be more accepting and less critical of myself and others. Yoga has taught me to strive for balance in life, Sthiram and Sukham, when to push and when to ease off. And maybe most importantly, to remember to BREATHE and to use breath as a tool to self-soothe and reduce anxiety, fear and stress. ABOUT MICHELE: I have been a serious yoga practitioner since 1998, having dabbled since 1994. I completed my first 200-hour training in 2014 at Kula Yoga Practice in NYC, with another 200-hour training in 2021 and additional training in Iyengar, Yoga Injury Prevention and Yoga Anatomy. I studied with Schuyler Grant, Nikki Vilella, Nikki Costello, Jason Crandall and Rod Stryker. I had one-on-one mentoring sessions with Freddie Wyndham from 2007 through 2020 and absorbed much of his style of Slow-Flow Vinyasa with an Iyengar focus on alignment, without adhering to any strict dogma. I believe there is no being “good” or “bad” at yoga, and it is NOT about which poses one can or cannot do. We all come to the mat with our own limitations and strengths. It is about consistently coming to the mat, linking breath to movement and staying present in mind and body. Yoga has been the most consistent thing in my life for going on 30 years now. I believe that “all yoga is good yoga” and that everyone, no matter age or level of physical fitness, benefits from a yoga practice. I also believe that music enhances yoga and curate eclectic playlists for my classes that include artists such as DJ Drez, Stevie Wonder, John Mayer, Krishna Das, Thievery Corporation and The Grateful Dead.</image:caption>

<image:caption>How did you get to Telluride? My brother started working up on the mountain and the rest of the family came for a ski trip. I liked it so much that I returned the following summer, then did a couple of winter-seasons and finally moved. What’s your astrological sign? Sagittarius . What brings you the most joy? Music, sitting in silence, having chai with friends in Mysore, India and going on adventures with Jojo Rabbit and Stash. Who or what influences your teaching style? There are many teachers to thank but in particular, Dr. KLS Jois and Annie Pace, who’s unconditional love and devotion illuminate my path. How do you apply practice to your life? I strive to be a good, kind and loving human. About Barbara: I stepped into my first guided Ashtanga Yoga class in 2001 and was hooked instantly. Although I tried out other flavors of Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga and its transformational power were the right fit for me. After earning a law degree and getting ready for a corporate career, I switched gears and threw myself into learning and studying this method full time. I completed over 1000 hours of teacher training in the Western world and began to apprentice with Annie Pace in 2016. Since then, I travel to Mysore, India, annually to study music, chanting and other yogic sciences. I am also incredibly honored to have received the official authorization from Saraswathi Jois to teach this method. My yogic studies are on-going and I am eternal grateful to my teachers and mentors Annie Pace, Dr. KLS Jois, Saraswathi Jois, Mrs R. Mukherjee, as well as Christine Hoar. What to expect from practice with Babsi: The Primary Series or Yoga Chikitsa (Yoga Therapy), is the gateway to the Ashtanga Vinyasa method and is appropriate for anybody. A guided class teaches proper pacing, correct vinyasa (the linking of inhale and exhale with particular movements) as well as the correct sequencing. One of the most beautiful aspects of a guided class is the surrender to the classic Sanskrit count which can instill a sense of discipline. This class compliments any well-established practice and allows newer students to familiarize themselves with the method and sequence of postures. “When vinyasa is perfect, the mind is under control.” (Sri K. Pattabhi Jois)</image:caption>

<image:caption>How did you get to Telluride? Love brought me here. My partner came to Telluride in the early 90's and we met while traveling and after my first Summertime visit, I knew Telluride would be a big part of my life. What’s your astrological sign? I'm an Aries sun sign with a Virgo rising. What brings you the most joy? Hiking with our dogs, spending time outdoors, teaching classes, connecting with people who are curious and pausing often during my day for moments of gratitude Who or what influences your teaching style? I was a multi-sport, competitive athlete most of my life until I tore my achilles tendon. The breakdown of my "body ego" in the months that followed really required me to reckon with all of the unsupportive habits, stories and expectations of my body that I had created and fed over time. Learning how to work with where my body is at any given time in my life has been a transformative experience. I'm fascinated with the inner workings and anatomy of all of our body's systems and am interested in weaving traditional teachings with modern science, biomechanics and myofascial studies. It's important we learn to mindfully move in ways that create mobility and stability in our joints, length and strength in our muscle tissues and sustainable practices that allow us to stay active and fit for as long as possible. How do you apply practice to your life? As a recovering perfectionist, learning how to approach everything as a practice has been liberating. I work diligently to apply the beginner's mind not only to my life, but also those who I come into contact with. Meditation, yoga, and practicing mindful awareness has helped me become a much more stable, peaceful, kind and happy person. With this approach, I feel ready and able to manage the challenges life presents because I give myself the space to absorb, learn and grow rather than needing to get it right immediately and beat myself up when I don't. About Gretchen: I was fortunate to train with exceptional teachers in New York City, and after several years of "competitive teaching" I shifted gears and taught to a wide variety of bodies of all ages on the Pacific Coast of Mexico for several years before landing in Telluride. I believe a good teacher meets students where they're at rather than trying to force them into ideal body shapes and movement patterns. Learning how to see oneself clearly and realistically is something I enjoy helping students understand. It's important to me to offer supportive and clear cues to help students feel and safely explore something in their body that provides both a sense of well-being but also curiosity to learn more. I enjoy creating playlists that fit the mood of the class, and sometimes weave a bit of philosophical teachings when appropriate. I'm grounded, calm, and inviting and prioritize creating an environment where anyone would feel comfortable joining, regardless of skill level or familiarity.</image:caption>

<image:caption>How did you get to Telluride? I drove to Telluride the summer before my senior year of college at UC Santa Cruz. One of my best friends from high school was living up on a Mesa outside of town (in a Tipi) so the living expenses were cheap and I was looking forward to a change of scenery. What’s your astrological sign? Aquarius baby! What brings you the most joy? I find joy everyday living in these mountains; hiking, biking, running, skiing, sitting, being. The joy I feel for my family is a long list that I cannot label. And I love and feel so grateful for the connections I make with my clients and for the opportunity to teach them to move their bodies in a way that brings freedom, strength, ease and agility. Who or what influences your teaching style? There are so many creative and exceptional pilates instructors. I would say Cara Reeser has been my huge inspiration. She passes on the lineage of Kathy Grant who was a very intuitive instructor who learned directly from Joseph Pilates and went on to teach and support others with her ever-evolving knowledge. I have gained a deeper understanding of how the body moves and ways to support all bodies and adapt and change programs to fit their needs. Every time I take a course from Cara Reeser it's like getting a better eyeglass prescription, the clarity I feel is super motivating! How do you apply practice to your life? Pilates is about integrating mind, body and spirit to live a healthier fuller life. When I am teaching an exercise that I or my client finds challenging; the challenge could be mental or physical, I tell myself or them to find the ease and flow within the work. Not everything has to feel hard- sometimes we need to let go and trust our body, our being- in that moment of trust the possibilities are endless. About Wendy: I love to share my enthusiasm for pilates with others. As a teacher, I balance the knowledge with the exercises, the precision with flow in hopes of giving everyone a strong foundation to take with them in all aspects of their life so they feel strong and healthy. What to expect from practice with Wendy: This Pilates mat class is designed to be challenging and energizing for all participants. A full body workout that will focus on core strength and muscle flexibility, you will learn how breath can become your super power when exercises feel difficult.</image:caption>

<image:caption>What’s your astrological sign? Virgo What brings you the most joy? Being in nature, especially by the ocean. Traveling to new places. Who or what influences your teaching style? I have been teaching Pilates since 2004 so my classes always have core strengthening. My first training was power vinyasa yoga since 2006 but then a training with Ana Forrest who teaches longer pose holds, so i like to play with both styles to combine more of a slower, "mindful vinyasa". Music also inspires me a lot. How do you apply practice to your life? In the last few years I've been cultivating a daily meditation practice that's made a big difference in my life as far as managing stress. It's not always easy and I fall off the wagon sometimes, but I can always tell it makes my day and the way I interact with my loved ones way better.</image:caption>

<image:caption>How did you get to Telluride? I came to the Western Slope after spending two years in Berlin, I fell in love with the area instantly. I live in Ridgway and I absolutely love coming and spending time in Telluride! What is your sign? Aquarius sun and Aries Moon. Apparently, they call this combo “the ambassador of disruption”. Stubborn and impatient. Perfect qualities to become a yoga teacher What brings you the most joy? Traveling. Discovering new places, new cultures. Learning new things. Continuous growth. Who or what influences your teaching style? My teacher Yogi Dinesh Chander Ji (disciple of Swami Yogananda) as well as the teachers from the very first yoga studio I stepped into, which happened to be a Bikram studio in NYC, have been the biggest influence on the way I teach. I also take my inspiration from pretty much every teacher I meet. I love talking elements I like from someone else’s practice and incorporating them into my own. The classes I teach include the elements of Hatha, Vinyasa, Pranayama and my knowledge of applied neuroscience About Anya: Originally from Belarus, I came to the States when I was 19 and spent 15 years living in NYC. This is where I discovered yoga for myself, practicing Bikram at the time. It all started as a need for good exercise. Over time this turned into an amazing journey that led me to India, where I met my teacher and finished my training ,and eventually to this incredible studio in a small mountain town of Telluride! How do you apply practice to your life? My Aries Moon makes me impatient, my Aquarius sun lacks grounding qualities. My practice brings me back into the moment and into my body. It grounds me and teaches me to be present even with the most uncomfortable things. It allows me to sit in silence with myself without needing to be anywhere else. My practice is my home. It makes me a better human all around.</image:caption>

<image:title>Chelsea</image:title>
<image:caption>How did you get to Telluride? I relocated here in July, having visited for the first time two years prior and becoming enamored with the area's natural beauty. A sequence of unforeseen events and a wandering spirit have brought me here, and for that, I am immensely thankful. What is your astrological sign? LEO What brings you the most joy? Nature, travel, music, adventure & spontaneity Who or what influences your teaching style? I was introduced to yoga in 2004 via Prana Vinyasa and some remarkable instructors, which ignited a profound passion within me. My spiritual journey, coupled with a love for movement and music, resonated beautifully with the creative and dynamic Prana Vinyasa approach, created by Shiva Rea. My passion for travel and exposure to various students and teachers has enriched my yoga background and significantly shaped my teaching approach. How do you apply practice to your life? I believe it infuses every aspect of life now. On some days, it's gentle and straightforward, manifesting in meditation, breathwork, and time spent outdoors. On other days, it's a more obvious physical practice. It's akin to the bassline that underpins my existence, indicating whether I'm in harmony or completely offbeat. About Chelsea: I'm a curious student of life and love to share that space of curiosity with others. I've been teaching since 2008 and am now completing my 500- hr Prana Vinyasa certification so that I might lead teacher trainings in the near future. My classes will be an offering of rhythm & flow, unique sequencing, energetic alignment and attention to the subtle body so that students can find their internal alignment and experience creativity in the flow.</image:caption>
